The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 has put a great responsibility on companies, employers and employees to ensure that every safeguard is taken when using electricity at work. JC Electrics can assist you to comply with these regulations by rigorously testing and repairing faults identified. To help avoid serious penalties by not conforming to the terms of the regulations, we have summarised the major points below.
Duty and co-operation
Employers and employees should comply with the regulations that relate to
matters within their control. Moreover it's the duty of every employee at
work to co-operate with their employer in whatever the regulations enforce.
Protection
Protective devices must be provided to prevent danger.
Environment
Inspection and maintenance of all electrical equipment must be carried out
at regular intervals.
Specification
Only correctly specified equipment capable of doing the job for which it is
intended must be installed. On no account must equipment be used for something
of which it is incapable. This leads to malfunction which in turn leads to
danger.
Records
Records of maintenance and test results for each individual system must be
kept and updated.
